Ipswich Town have announced that goalkeeper Christian Walton has signed a one-year contract extension at the club.

The 30-year-old has now penned a deal which will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2029.

Since joining the Blues from Brighton in 2021, initially on loan before making the move permanent in January 2022, Walton has made a total of 138 appearances for the club.

"I am very pleased to have signed a new deal at the club," he said said.

"As I think all supporters will know, this club and the area means so much to me and Im incredibly proud of everything we have been able to achieve together over the last few years.

To win promotion and then represent Ipswich Town in the Premier League once again is one of the highlights of my career so far and Im excited to have extended my stay here for a further season.

Ipswich Manager, Gary ONeil, added: Were pleased Christian has agreed a new deal with the club.

He has obviously achieved so much here during his time as an Ipswich player and has showed himself to be a strong member of our goalkeeping group, so we are delighted he will be with us for an extended period.

England Women's boss Sarina Wiegman is under contract with The FA until the end of next summer's World Cup and is still yet to agree a new deal which would see her stay beyond 2027.

The 56-year-old was asked in Tuesday's press conference if there has been any progression on a contract extension, but she says she is totally focused on the upcoming playoff games with Greece.

She added: We have regular conversations together and talk about the future at moments, but at this moment Im just focusing on Greece and want to get through and qualify for the World Cup.

We always speak. Of course I talk to [FA chief executive officer] Mark [Bullingham] every two weeks, and we talk about what is happening now and the future, but there is nothing new, we are focusing on Greece and then hopefully the World Cup.
